Nail Fungus Treatment

From £390.00

If you have nail fungus, your doctor may have already told you that it’s a common condition that affects approximately 10% of adults. It typically begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of a nail and, as the fungal infection deepens, you may notice your nails becoming thicker, misshapen, discoloured or even crumbling at the edges. Fungal nail infections can affect your fingernails or toenails and spread to several nails.

Although nail fungus infections can be mild and painless, they can also cause a great deal of discomfort and make you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your nails. A wide range of treatment options are available, from oral antifungal drugs and medical creams to nail removal.

Here at the Mi:SkinLaser Clinic, we can help to successfully treat your fungal nail infection using laser technology and this treatment is ideal for both men and women, nail fungal infections, toenails and fingernails.

What causes nail fungus infections?

Approximately half of all nail fungus infections are caused by Onychomycosis.
We each naturally have certain fungi in our bodies but, in a warm, moist environment such as the inside of your shoes, these fungi can overpopulate, leading to an infection. Fungal infections can also be spread from person to person.

How does laser nail fungus treatment work?

To treat a fungal nail infection, we would use the Nd:YAG applicator for the Gentle Max Pro laser. This emits light with a wavelength of 1064nm, which penetrates deep into the infected tissues to heat and destroy them without affecting the healthy surrounding cells. With the Nd:YAG applicator, we have full control over the pulse intensity and duration of the laser to ensure that we only heat the damaged areas.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you need will depend on your individual case and the extent of your fungal nail infection. Typically, we recommend four treatment sessions spaced approximately 14 days apart for the best results.

Do laser nail fungus treatments work?

Laser treatments for nail fungus are relatively new when compared to traditional treatment methods such as medical creams and oral antifungal medication.

Here at the Mi:Ski. Laser Clinic, we stand by our experience of treating nail fungus with the Gentle Max pro laser as we have helped a significant number of patients rid their nails of infection over the years.

Is laser nail fungus treatment safe?

Laser treatments using an Nd:YAG laser have an excellent safety record and are low risk for the treatment of nail fungus.

Is there anything I should do after the treatment?

There’s no downtime with laser treatments for nail fungus, so you can get back to everyday life after each appointment. You can even wear nail varnish immediately after the procedure, although we will request that you remove any nail products 24 hours before each treatment.
Side effects from laser nail fungus treatments are rare but if you notice any signs of infection, blistering or pigment changes, let us know immediately.
